What to check before buying used

A practical inspection order for used motorhomes and conversions.

What to check before buying used

Start with damp. It is the single most expensive fault and the easiest to detect: a meter, twenty minutes, every wall-floor junction and every window frame.

Then weigh it. Payload disappointment is the most common regret among first-time buyers, and the plated figures rarely match reality.

Habitation systems next: run the heating, fill and drain the water, cycle the fridge on gas and 12V, and open every locker.

Only then look at the engine. A tired base vehicle is fixable; a rotten habitation box usually isn't worth it.
