The Dolomites

Distance

260 miles

Suggested duration

7–10 days

Best time to go

Late June to October; larches turn in mid-October

The Dolomites reward slow travel. The classic Sella Ronda loop can be driven in a day, but the point is to stop, park up and walk.

Roads are excellent and busy. Start early and you will have the passes largely to yourself.
